Even More SyntrxII + Nightverb

Keeping it ‘in the family’ this track was created with just Erica Synths SyntrxII and Nightverb – two passes. It is just so ‘hands on’ and has become my favourite synth (apart from my modular of course!).
More Adventures with SyntrxII + Nightverb

Having lots of fun with Erica Synths Nightverb which here I am using with my SyntrxII. Five tracks recorded into ProTools and just a little delay from the synth – no other fx. Been searching for the ultimate reverb for a while, in both hardware and software and I think that Nightverb might just be […]
New Toy: Nightverb!

Just arrived today – Nightverb from Erica Synths. Seems to be a very well designed piece of kit where the menu diving is pretty straightforward. One really good feature is the ‘pot catch’ popup where when adjusting a parameter that was saved with the preset, the value is displayed (as a dial) so you can […]
Theremin For Dummies

My faithful studio assistant Grian improvises on the Moog Etherwave, quantized and going through Mutable Instruments Rings:-
Latest Acquisition – AJH Sonic XV

Just exploring the SonicXV from AJH. More than just a filter with wave shaping with a second waveshaper on the resonance circuit! Wow! The multi-tracked sequences are mostly going through the Sonic XV and the floaty stuff is from Syntrx2. I used various outputs from Mannequins Just Friends module to modulate the filter.
Klee – My Favourite Sequencer

More fun with the Dub Filter from AudioThing – this time with the modular, Syntrx2 and Korg ARP2600
Audio Thing – Dub Filter

Just upgraded from the Alberosie Dub Station to the new Vintage Dub Filter from Audio Thing. Seems a lot easier to get great results and more fully featured and sounds great! (Although I still like Alberosie for dubby repeats and for its raw charm!). Here on a sequence through the Thomas White LPG
Fatberg!

This one is from my Cutty Wren EP. Written by Helen McCookerybook and recorded when we were working on The Cutty Wren. For the synth part in the instrumental section I used the formant filter Motormouth from Limaflo as the voice of the Fatberg! It was great fun to do but the icing on the […]
My First Modular

I had been using soft synths for several years producing instrumental music but had the itch to be more ‘hands on’ rather than tweaking presets. So, what finally triggered my plunge into modular was in March 2011 discovering an extensive article in Sound On Sound (originally published in 2009)- ‘The SOS Guide To Choosing A […]
Octatonic Jam

This was recorded in a single take with no external fx on the Analogue Solutions Impulse Command synthsizer. I used an octatonic scale favoured by Olivier Messiaen – so just Messiaen about really!
